Obituary for Walter DeWitt Hoffman

Walter DeWitt Hoffman, 75 died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at his home in Garden City. He was born March 7, 1940 in Satanta, Kansas the son of Harold R. & Matilda “Tilly” (Wheeler) Hoffman.
Walter grew up as a child in Seward County, Kansas. He later moved with his family to Colorado. On June 25, 1959 he married Madelyn Rose Woodson in Garden City. They moved to Garden City and Walter has lived in Garden City since. A farmer and truck driver, Walter enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include five children Agnes Hernandez of Scott City, Kansas, Karen Hoffman, Harold “Mike” Hoffman, Howard Walter Hoffman, and Marilyn Fay Hoffman all of Garden City; two brothers Eugene Hoffman and Clyde Hoffman both of Holcomb, Kansas; a sister Patricia Wallace of Garden City, Kansas; 20 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Walter is preceded in death by his wife Madelyn who died on November 22, 2004. He is also preceded in death by his parents; a son Henry Hoffman; a daughter Tilly Ruby; and a sister Georgia Lee Hoffman.
Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to Noon Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. A private family service will be held at a later date. The family requests memorials given to the Walter Hoffman memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
