Obituary for Wanda Jean Burns
Wanda Jean Burns, 68 of Garden City died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at her home in Garden City. She was born July 17, 1945 in Garden City the daughter of Everett Lyle & Doris Deloris (Wright) Oshel.
Wanda grew up in Garden City and attended Garden City Schools. She also attended Garden City Community College. On October 11, 1963 she married Jimmy L. Burns, Sr. in Garden City. Wanda moved to Shawnee, Wyoming in 1983. She also lived in Big Springs, Nebraska and Ogallala, Nebraska before moving back to Garden City in 2000. She has lived in Garden City since.
Survivors include three sons Jimmy L. Burns, Jr. of Garden City, Troy & wife Diane Burns of Lubbock, Texas and Trevor & wife Amanda Burns of Norton, Kansas; a brother Roger Oshel of Deerfield, Kansas; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Wanda is preceded in death by her parents and a sister Merlene Oshel.
A private family service will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The family requests memorials given to the Finney County Humane Society in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
