Obituary for William Milton "Bill" Bridges

William Milton “Bill” Bridges, 82, died Friday, October 23, 2020 at The Ranch House in Garden City, Kansas. He was born March 14, 1938 in Deport, Texas the son of Ottis & Eunice (Westbrook) Bridges.

Bill grew up and lived in various places with his family throughout his childhood before graduating from high school in Guymon, Oklahoma. On August 21, 1959 he married Patricia Jane Koster in Garden City. They moved to Garden City in 1974 where they have lived since. Bill worked as a plumber for Eads Inc. for 40 years, retiring in the early 1990’s. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Garden City and the Eagle’s Lodge. Bill enjoyed fishing, yard work, watching western movies, and as a sports fan he was a huge fan of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Survivors include his wife Patricia of the home; three children Janelle Dugan, Mark Bridges, & Cherilyn & husband Carlos Alvarez all of Garden City, Kansas; a brother Charles Bridges of Wichita, Kansas; four grandchildren Alisha Dugan, Marissa Dugan, William Bridges, & Angela Bridges; and a great-grandchild Dreyden Dugan. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law Sandy Bridges; a son-in-law George Dugan; a brother Billy Bridges; and a sister Mary Ruth Upchurch.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Garden City with Pastor Michael Hageman officiating. Services may also be view on Facebook Live on the Garnand Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family suggests memorials given to Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo in care of the funeral home.
