Obituary for Sarah Catherine Bauerle (Russell)
Sarah Catherine Russell Bauerle, 71, died Sunday, August 21, 2022, at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. She was born November 28, 1950, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of Hilton Lee Russell, Sr. and Mayme (Poche) Russell.
Sarah grew up in Amite, Louisiana where she attended school and graduated from Amite High School in 1968. She then attended and graduated from business school. On July 14, 1969, she married John B. Bauerle, Jr. in Mobile, Alabama. They lived in Tickfaw, La., Bush, La., Hereford, Tx., Scottsbluff, Ne., and Amarillo, Tx., before moving permanently to Garden City in 1997. A homemaker, Sarah was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cimarron, Kansas. Her hobbies include cross stitch, crocheting, reading, puzzles, traveling, cooking, gardening, and volunteering with church activities.
Survivors include her husband John B. Bauerle, Jr. of the home; a son Chris & wife Winter Bauerle of Charlotte, North Carolina; a daughter Kathy Bauerle of Amarillo, Texas; a granddaughter Cidney Jane & husband Levi Potter of Canyon, Texas; a great granddaughter Nova Jane Potter; one sister Jennette & husband Melvin Bearb of Rayne, Louisiana; a sister-in-law Kim Russell Kea & husband Ray of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Sarah is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Hilton Lee Russell, Jr.
A celebration of Sarah’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Cimarron, Kansas with Pastor Richard Deimund officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials given to the First Baptist Church of Cimarron Building Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. 7th St., Garden City, Kansas 67846.
