Obituary for Rosalie "Rose" Gonzalez

Rosalie ”Rose” Gonzalez died August 19, 2022 at High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin, Kansas. She was born February 11, 1943 in Garden City, Kansas the daughter of Santiago and Luisa (Navarro) Ramirez.

Rosalie was raised in Garden City and attended St Mary Catholic Schools. She was a lifelong member of St Mary Catholic Church and attended Mass regularly. She first married Ramon J. Jalomo and resided in Wichita until his passing in 1976. She moved back to Garden City and later married Nicolas T Gonzalez. She was an avid KC Chiefs fan, often performing somersaults after touchdowns. You could walk into her home and expect a delicious home cooked meal to be prepared at a moment’s notice. Her interests included creating crafts, listening to Mexican music and enjoying a drink with her sisters. She was gentle soul, not a fighter, except when she beat cancer. She fought the cancer battle and won…not just once but twice. The most important events in her life revolved around her grandchildren, whom she adored.

Survivors include her children-Raymond J Jalomo, Sandra (Sam) Darroch, Christie (Richard) Beltran & Rosalie Gonzalez all of Garden City; grandchildren-Sarah Jalomo, Phalyn Butler, Zachary Jalomo, Alicia Gonzalez, Emanuel Beltran, Samantha Darroch, Derek Beltran, Thomas Beltran, Nickolas Gonzalez, Joseph Gonzalez, & Ilyana Gonzalez; great-grandchildren-Summer Mader & Remington Jalomo & sister-Delores (Sixto) Pena.

In addition to her first husband and parents she was preceded in death by her siblings-Lupe Minjarez, Mary Lou Baca, Josie Otero, & Connie Palacios.

A Rosary will be held at 9:30am Thursday August 25, 2022 with a Memorial Mass to follow at 10:00am at St Mary Catholic Church.
