Ronald J. “Ron” Harman, 79, died Saturday October 7, 2023 at The Ranch House in Garden City, Kansas. He was born February 10, 1944 in Riverside, California; the son of Reuben J. and Mary Alice (Ward) Harman.
Ron grew up in Garden City and attended Garden City Schools. He then went on to attend Garden City Community College. Sports were very important to Ron. He wrestled, played football and also coached girls softball teams. Later on he umpired ball games as well.
Ron worked for Wheatland Electric Power Plant in Garden City then transferred to Sunflower Electric Power Plant in Holcomb. He was involved in the power plant operations where he was a member of the IBEW.
Ron married Cheryl Lee Owen on June 7, 1964; this coming June would have established 60 years of marriage.
Survivors include his Wife- Cheryl of the home, Children- Kelly and Charolette Harman of Cimarron, Kansas, Christopher and Judy Harman of Garden City, Kansas, Candace and Donnie Peak of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Brett and Jessica Harman of Garden City, Kansas, and Jason Harman of Wichita, Kansas; Brothers- Curt and Robin Harman and Steve and Carma Harman both of Garden City, Kansas; as well as 17 Grandsons, 17 Granddaughters, 8 Great-Grandsons, and 10 Great-Granddaughters.
He is preceded in death by his Parents- Reuben and Mary Alice Harman and a Grandson- Zachary Harman.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday October 11, 2023 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas with Pastor Raul Silva officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Ron Harman Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
