Obituary for Robert Alan "Bob" Williams

Robert (Bob) Alan Williams, age 73, died March 15, 2022, surrounded by family at the Aurora Hospital in Aurora, Colorado. He was born on December 1, 1948, at Bethel Hospital in Newton Kansas to his parents Donald E Williams and Anna Jean (Westerhaus) Williams. He grew up in Halstead, Kansas until moving to the Hillside Ranch in Garden City, Kansas in 1959.

Bob graduated from Garden City High School in 1966 lettering in wrestling, football and track. He went on to graduate from the University of Kansas in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Upon graduating, he married Mary Beth Lange in Sac City, Iowa on July 3rd, 1973. They moved to Lamar, Colorado from 1973-82 to work for Garst and Thomas, Pioneer Seed Company. They returned with his family to Garden City in 1982 to become the C.O.O. of Acra-Plant Inc. where he helped develop numerous domestic and international agricultural patents. Later in life he developed two inventions: the Firearmour gun lock and rail. He was a sales rep for Danfoss until his death.

He earned the nickname Coach Bob from coaching over twenty different youth baseball and football teams. He loved KU Basketball and the Denver Broncos. He played racquetball, softball, and rugby. He was a scuba diver, photographer, and avid concert enthusiast.

He was a member of the Community Congregational Church for 40 years, CTIC Conservation Technology Information Center, NRA and Co- founder of the Finney County Economic Development Cooperation. He served on the Garden City Recreation Commission, was vice president of the Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Finney County Humane Society.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donnie Williams. He is also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Elmer Lange and mother-in-law Beth (Thomas) Lange.

He is survived by his spouse of 48 years Mary Beth, two sons Nathan Williams and Colin Williams, his daughter-in- law Airianna (Priest) Williams, grandson Magnus Williams and sister-in-law Martha Lange as well as numerous cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will take place at the Community Congregational Church on Wednesday, March 23rd at 1:00 p.m. Interment follows at Valley View Cemetery and reception at Hidden Trail Brewing from 2:30- 5:00 p.m. at 2010 E. Schulman Ave.
