Obituary for Rene Ramos

Rene Ramos, 55, passed away February 2, 2022 at his home in Amarillo, Texas. He was born
March 31,1966 in Cruz Verde, Zacatecas, Mexico, the son of Uriel and Concepcion (Renteria)
Ramos.

Rene was raised in Felt OK and graduated from the Felt Public Schools. He was known for his
basketball and baseball skills. Aside from school, he enjoyed driving around listening to music,
and socializing with friends. Rene was a natural artist who loved to sketch people. He moved to
Garden City in 1988 and was employed as a supervisor at Monfort. He was a hard-working
motivator who mentored and encouraged many employees. He married Chrisanna Valdez, from
Clayton NM in 1997. They later divorced. From this this union, they had a daughter, Shania Rae
Ramos. Later, he endured a car accident putting him in a wheelchair. His disability did not limit
his aspirations or dreams. It did not define him, it motivated him to find other avenues to express
his talent and independence. He moved his family to Amarillo where he resided, and studied
drafting, earning his associate degree from Amarillo College

Rene was a proud and loving father to Shania. She was always his number one and always
considered her his "Baby Girl". He loved it when family went to see him and enjoyed being
surrounded by his nephews and nieces. Rene loved being outside in the sunshine. Anytime the
weather was nice enough, you could find him out in the yard with his favorite music in the
background. He spent hours in the beautiful sunshine watching the birds and observing his
surroundings, while getting in his whole grains through his favorite beverage, Bud Light. He was
an avid sports fan who could recite pretty much any statistic relating to football. Other hobbies
included cheering for his football team, the Raiders, listening to 80’s hair bands, and practicing
his “social” skills. He was a member of the Catholic faith and was faithful in his love for his
family. He never expected what he was given but always appreciative what he received. Rene
was our #1 Rock Star.
