Ramona Rodriguez, 92, died Monday January 3, 2022 at her home in Garden City, Kansas. She was born September 30, 1929 in Deerfield, Kansas, the daughter of Rafael and Victoria (Gonzales) Ortega.

Ramona was a life long southwest Kansas resident. She married Robert L. Rodriguez at St Mary Catholic Church on May 28, 1949. He died September 24, 2007. She had worked as a cook for Community Daycare, and Area Mental Health and custodian for USD 457 and The Finney County Law Enforcement Center. Besides being a great cook, she was a talented seamstress, devoted caretaker, and “Grandma” to all. She was a member of St Mary Catholic Church, and helped with many funeral dinners. Her devotion to the Virgin of Guadalupe led her to pray the Rosary regularly. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, her sons-Robert Rodriguez Jr. & Martin Rodriguez and daughters-Juanita Esquivel & Cecilia Ortiz.

She is survived by her children-Anita (Nicolas) Gallardo of Garden City, Joseph (Robin) Rodriguez of Philadelphia PA, Daniel Rodriguez of Garden City, Marie Rodriguez of Garden City, Lucinda (Eloy) Archuleta of Garden City & James (Janie) Rodriguez of Garden City; 25 Grandchildren; 35 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Thursday January 6, 2022 at Garnand Funeral Home with Rosary to follow at 7:30 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held 12:00 pm Friday January 7, 2022 also at St Mary Catholic Church with Father Jacob Schneider as Celebrant and broadcast live via the Garnand Funeral Home Facebook Page.
