Obituary for Nancy E. Carr
Nancy E. Carr, 68, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas following a brief illness from Pancreatic cancer. She was born December 2, 1952 in Garden City, Kansas the daughter of Glen & Georgia (Caskey) Lederer.
Nancy has lived most of her life in Garden City. She attended Garden City schools and graduated from Garden City High School in 1970. She began working as a cake decorator and taught piano lessons for several years. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1989 from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, Nancy began her teaching career. She taught music at Buffalo Jones Elementary School, Edith Scheuerman Elementary School, Theoni School, Abe Hubert Middle School all in Garden City, and Hickok Elementary School in Ulysses. Nancy loved to spend her time playing and teaching piano, her music, sewing, riding horses, and her dogs.
On May 29, 1993, she married David Carr in Garden City, Kansas. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters Kimberly & husband Jerrad Webb of Deerfield, Kansas and Holli Ayala of Garden City, Kansas; two brothers Larry Kent Lederer of Chicago, Illinois and Mark Lederer of American Canyon, California; and six Grandchidlren Brian Ayala, Nathan Ayala, Stephen Webb, Elizabeth Davenport, Jordan Webb, and Paige Webb. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside service will be scheduled at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to the Finney County Humane Society in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
