Obituary for Michael H Sandoval

Michael H. Sandoval, 50, died November 19, 2022 at St. Anthony Hospital in Denver, Colorado. He was born April 17, 1972 in Denver, Colorado, the son of Eddie Ronald and Dorothy Rose (Valdez) Sandoval.

Mike spent most of his life in Garden City and considered it his hometown. He attended St Mary Catholic School, graduated from Garden City Senior High School, and Garden City Community College. He was very involved in sports, wrestling in high school (he was a member of the 1990 state wresting champions) and running track for Garden City Community College. As an adult he played in local softball leagues and later became an assistant baseball coach for Garden City Senior High School. He also coached his daughters and niece in volleyball leagues. He was a die-hard Denver Bronco Fan, even in the lean years. Other hobbies included fishing, watching Jeopardy, and teasing co-workers. He will be remembered for his orneriness, quick wit, and specialty dishes. He had been employed for the Finney County Sheriff Department, FedEx and USD 457.

Survivors include his Parents-Eddie Ronald and Dorothy Rose Sandoval; Brother-Steve and Sway Sandoval and their Children-Allison Rose and Brandon Blaise Sandoval; Daughters-Madelyn and Mallory Sandoval & Deidre Proehl; Chihuahua-Gracie Sandoval; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins and many lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his Uncles-Steve Valdez, Roger Valdez, Louie “Chief” Sandoval and Charles Sandoval & Aunts-Darleen Lambert and Helen Sandoval.

A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 am, Saturday December 17, 2022 at St Mary Catholic Church of Garden City, Kansas with Rev. Jacob Schneider as Celebrant. Burial will take place in the spring at Valley View Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Michael Sandoval Memorial Fund to benefit projects for Real Men Real Leaders or the Garden City Community College Girls Golf Program.
