Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. November 17, 2007 at first United Methodist Church in Garden City, Kansas
Interment: Copeland Cemetery


Survivors: Wife: Norma Jean Meier of the home, Sons: Captain David M. Meier of U.S. Army-Afghanistan, Ensign Kevin M. and Tami Meier of Pensacola, Florida, Step-Son: Officer Jeffery A. and Dawn Kirkland of Houston, Texas, Brother: Patrick Meier of Centralia, Sister: Nancy Ditges of Hutchinson, Kansas, Mother-In-Law: Elva Berry of Garden City, Kansas, 2 Grandchildren: Jason and Megan, 1 Niece: Michelle Meier, 1 Nephew: Matthew Meier.


Michael grew up in Dodge City and graduated from Dodge City High School and Dodge City Community College. He received his bacholar of arts degree from Fort Hays State University. He then graduated from the Department of Nursing at Garden City Community College and practiced as a registered nurse in critical care areas. He later was accepted to study at St. Catherine School of Nurse Anesthesia and was certified as a registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA). In 1988 he went to work at Sunflower Electric Power Plant Company, Holcomb Station and was a lab technician in the electrical generation unit. He was proud of the accomplishments that have been made at the company. Michael has lived in Garden City since 1969 except for 2 years. He enjoyed the time with his soul-mate, Norma and the hours he spent with his faithful dog "Mickey". He loved music of every kind, this pastime and prayer helped him survive.
