Obituary for Lora Dee Tackett
Lora Dee Tackett, 89, died Thursday July 14, 2022 at her home in Deerfield, Kansas. She was born August 7, 1932 in Moundridge, Kansas the daughter of Harold and Elizabeth (Vogt) Bell.
Lora's family made the move to the Deerfield area when she was a Junior in High School. It was here that she met Earl "Hop" Tackett, and the two married on October 22, 1950 in Deerfield.
Lora Dee was active in the United Methodist Church of Deerfield where she served in many ways. She was active in Boy Scouts, Kearny County Senior Center, Capsula, Garden City Road Runners and Garden City Gold Wing motorcycle clubs, Red Hat Society and bowled for several years.
Lora kept herself busy doing many things; gardening, farming, putting puzzles together, playing pinochle, rummy and other card games. Her sons and families remember summers spent at the lake, annual trips to the Kansas State Fair, and holiday meals celebrated at the farm.
Survivors include 2 Sons- David and wife Loretta Tackett of Clearwater, Kansas, Kerry and wife Gayle of Deerfield, Kansas, Sister- Lorena Berry of Garden City, Kansas Sisters-in-Law- Myrt Goetz and husband Gus of Kingman, Kansas, and Margaret Tackett of Deerfield,, Kansas, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband- Hop Tackett, 1 Son- Stanley Tackett, 1 Grandson- Josh Tackett, and 1 Sister- Eleanor Moreland.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday July 19, 2022 at the Deerfield United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Deerfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held from Noon to 8:00 p.m. Monday July 18, 2022 at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Deerfield United Methodist Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
Due to the extreme heat and weather conditions we are currently facing the family suggests all guests dress accordingly, casual dress is welcome and encouraged.
