Obituary for Lisa C. Loving

Lisa C. Loving, 60, died Thursday, October 5, 2023, at her home in Garden City, Kansas. She was born October 25, 1962, in Heidelberg, German, the daughter of Joe Russell & Dolly Jean (Hadden) Kearns.

Lisa has lived in various places throughout her life. She attended and graduated from high school in Hereford, Texas. She moved to Garden City, Kansas in the mid 1980’s and has lived in Garden City since. Lisa enjoyed staying busy while working as a Sergeant for the Finney County Jail, was owner and operator of Loving’s Moon in Garden City but was better known as the owner and operator of Loving’s Cakes where she was known at the “Southwest Kansas Cake Boss.” She loved to spend her time in the outdoors, fishing, camping, helping people, crafts, and had a love for animals.

On June 17, 2006, she married Rodney Loving in Garden City. He survives. Other survivors include four sons Nathan Collier & wife Krystal of Emporia, KS, Nick Collier & wife Dani of Eudora, KS, Nolan Collier & wife Candice of Lenorah, TX, and Eric Collier & wife Rachel of Garden City, KS; five sisters Christina Roth of Garden City, KS, Heather Davis of Amarillo, TX, Stacey Howell of Pennsylvania, Rachel Crandell of Amarillo, TX, & Dian Samm of Terre Haute, IN; and nine grandchildren Clayton, Lily, Cooper, Cason, Colton, Preston, Braxton, Scarlett, & Stanley. Lisa is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City with Rev. Jim Akins and Von Hunn officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family suggests memorials given to Leave A Legacy in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be given at
