Obituary for Larry F. Vargas

Larry F. Vargas, 70, died Monday, January 10, 2022, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born January 12, 1951, in Lakin, Kansas the son to Vivian Cardona & Mary Vargas.

Larry was born and raised in Lakin, after high school he joined the United States Air Force serving from 1971-1979. Following his time in the Air Force he moved back to Kansas and began his career as a truck driver. Larry was a jack of all trades including his skills as a mechanic, handyman, and had the gift of working with his hands. He greatly enjoyed working on his motorcycles and cars. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his children Jeff DelaCruz of Garden City, Ks, Christopher Vargas of Garden City, Ks, David Vargas of Maricopa, Az, Katherine Deere of Lake Villa, IL, Andrea Poe of Goodyear Az, Melissa Eden of San Diego, Ca, Nathan Vargas of Lakin, Ks, Maegan Vargas of Lakin, Ks; Siblings Homer Rodriguez of Garden City, Ks, Manuel Rodriguez of Ingalls, Ks, Gabriel Rodriguez of Tecumseh, Ne, Mary Wilken of Lakin, Ks; 27 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Yolanda Anguino.

Graveside service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday January 17, 2022 at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City with Pastor Raul Silva officiating. There will be no calling hours. Military rites will be conducted by The United States Air Force Honor Guard and American Legion District 6 Honor Guard. The family suggest that memorials be made to Larry Vargas Memorial Fund in care of the Funeral Home, 412 N. 7th St., Garden city, Ks 67846
