Obituary for Juanita J. Crotty
Juanita J. Crotty, 85, died Wednesday January 27, 2021 at her home in Garden City, Kansas. She was born August 30, 1935 in Deerfield, Kansas the daughter of Ruby Oral and Ethel RhueAnn (McDannald) Baughman. She married Douglas M. Crotty on April 18, 1965; he passed on April 10, 1970.
Juanita was a resident of Deerfield from birth to 1954, it was there that she attended and graduated from the local school. In 1954 she moved to Garden City. She was a proud lifetime member of the Deerfield United Methodist Church, having received such awards and making sure she was in attendance each Sunday. If she was out of town for the weekend she would seek out the local Methodist Church and be certain to have her card signed. Juanita was very involved in local clubs; she was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary Post #2279, Eagle’s Auxiliary, Elks Lodge Widow’s, RSVP, Topeka Ancient Toltec Rite, along with various clubs within the local Senior Center. She was the Past President of the BPW, The Social order of the Beauceant; Past Matron of The Order of The Eastern Star, and always enjoyed social activities with friends and church family. Her family members remember her love for music card playing capabilities. They claim she had unwavering luck, making her the prime candidate for partner.
Survivors include two Nephews- Glen Baughman, Jr. and Bob Portz, three nieces- Diana Trout, Teresa Kuhlman, and Cindy Bowen. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Companion- Clarence Katz, Brother- Glen Baughman, Sr., Sister- Daisy Martin, and Nephew- Richard Portz.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday February 3, 2021 at the Deerfield United Methodist Church. Services will also be available for viewing on the Garnand Funeral Home’s Facebook Page.
