Obituary for Jose A Gonzalez

Jose Adeleydo Gonzalez died unexpectedly January 11th, 2021 in Garden City, Kansas at the age of 39 . He was born July 10, 1981 in Lexington, Nebraska the son of Jose Trinidad Gonzalez and Maria De Jesus (Calzada) Gonzalez.

He grew up and graduated from Garden City High School. He had worked at Burtis Motor most recently employed at Tyson. Jose “El Cuervo” Gonzalez was well known and admired in the sport of Professional Boxing and retired with an impressive career. He was a humble warrior with a great heart. His trainers were extremely pleased with him, as he was coachable fighter that was eager to learn and dedicated to training. Although he was successful in the boxing world he felt his greatest love and accomplishment to be his daughter, Camila Gonzalez. He was a genuine, humble soul …quick with a smile and a left jab. All who were fortunate to share a kind word or precious memory with him loved him. He is survived by his beautiful baby girl-Camila Gonzalez; mother of his daughter-Mayra Marquez; sister-Mary (Clemente Jr.) Varela; nieces and nephews-Yenny Burciaga, Carlos Guevara Jr, Marc Anthony Guevara, Karla Guevara and Adelaida Varela. He is preceded in death by his father Jose Trinidad Gonzalez and mother Maria De Jesus Gonzalez.

Visitation will be 12-5 pm Tuesday January 19, 2021 at Garnand Funeral Home. Rosary will be 7:30 pm Tuesday January 19th at St Mary Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday January 20, 2021 at St Mary Catholic Church with Father Jacob Schneider at Celebrant and broadcast live on the Garnand Funeral Home Facebook page. A private family burial will take place at a later date. The family suggests memorials to the Camila Gonzalez Scholarship Fund in Care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N 7th Street, Garden City, KS 67846.
