Obituary for Jorita Sue Henry

Jorita Sue Henry passed through heaven’s gates to the great beyond on a cold wintry morning surrounded by a fresh whitewash of snow, love and light on February 04, 2022, in Garden City, Kansas at the age of 62. She was born August 12, 1959, in Washington Kansas to Treva Gayle Henry and Larry Gay Henry.

She was preceded in death by her parents Larry Henry in November of 2012 and Treva Henry in April of 2015 as well as many lifelong friends and family members whom she missed dearly.

Survivors include one son and three granddaughters: Scott Henry, Mariel Henry, Sophia Henry, and Cameron Henry all residing in Garden City. Other survivors include three brothers Mark (Cindy) Henry of Trinidad, Colorado, Mike (Connie) Henry of Burlington, Colorado, and Greg Henry of Trinidad, Colorado; and a sister Lorri (Tony) Arnold of Trinidad, Colorado.

As a child she grew up with 4H receiving accolades for a multitude of projects and activities at various locations around Kansas. After graduating from Goodland High School in 1977 she went on to Colby Community College and ended up at Fort Hays State University where she became a member of the Clovia House sorority graduating with honors receiving her BS Degree. Eventually going back to FHSU where she again graduated with honors this time receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2002. She then went on to be the Director of Nursing at several facilities around the State of Kansas where she established a dictation of being a steadfast caring steward of the elderly and disabled. Spending countless hours of her life ensuring that thousands of people were given the absolute best care possible. Jorita was a quick witted and caring woman who is loved by all that were touched by her ever so generous and kindhearted soul. She loved her son and 3 grandchildren more than life itself always gushing about them with enthusiastic effervesce too all who would listen.

Jorita was a role model of strength, grace, thoughtfulness, generosity, selflessness, and kindness all the while being a wonderful matriarch to her family and great mentor to her friends.

The family thanks the staff at St. Catherine Hospital for their loving assistance.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Chaplain Michael Gonzalez officiating. The Service may also be viewed on Facebook Live on the Garnand Funeral Home Facebook page. Following the service, a reception from 3pm to 5 pm will be held at The First United Methodist Church’s Fellowship Hall 1106 N Main St, Garden City, KS 67846. A private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials given to the family to help with Jorita’s Grandchildren’s education.
