Obituary for Jessie S Otero
Jessie S. Otero, 90, died Friday July 8, 2022 at his home in Garden City. Kansas. He was born March 1, 1932 in Garden City, Kansas the son of Epimenio and Soledad (Sonora) Otero.
Mr Otero was a lifetime resident of Garden City. He knew when he first laid eyes on Mary Garcia that she would be his wife. They married on July 23, 1954 in Deerfield, Kansas. She died May 15, 2002. He loved watching his children and grandchildren grow and make him proud. He beamed with joy at the thought of their collective accomplishments. His hobbies included golfing, hunting, fishing, bowling, and playing the guitar in church. His employment included working for the City and County and Farmland Industries. His hands were rarely idle. Handy work was his passion. He saw new uses for discarded objects and would craft them into functional works of art. Memberships included St Mary Catholic Church, St Mary Cursillistas (Past President) and the Senior Center.
Survivors included his Children- Jack (Mary) Otero of Garden City, Nida A. (Antonio Porras) Otero Of Garden City, Jessie M. (Laurie) Otero of Windsor, CO, & James A. (Renee) Otero of Jacksonville, NC; 12 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandchildren & Siblings- Tony Otero, Lupe Otero, Mary Martin, Gina Crow, Alice Breeding, Raul Otero, Emily Vallejo & Vincent Otero.
In addition to his Wife- Mary Otero & Parents- Epimenio & Soledad Otero, he was preceded in death by his Grandson-Eduardo Banda & Siblings-Stella Hernandez, Ralph Otero, Daniel Otero & Gabriel Otero.
Visitation will be held 10:00am – 8:00 pm Monday July 18, 2022 at Garnand Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held 9:30 am with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 am on Tuesday July 19, 2022 both at St Mary Catholic Church with Father Jacob Schneider as Celebrant and broadcast Facebook Live via the Garnand Funeral Home Facebook Page. Burial will be held 3:00 pm Wednesday July 20, 2022 at Valley View Cemetery.
