Obituary for Janice Lynn Meyers

Janice Lynn Meyers, age 67, died on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, in her home surrounded by family. Janice was born November 24, 1953 in Garden City, Kansas to Harold and Mildred (Wedel) Nusser. She married David Meyers on March 12, 1971 in Edmond, Oklahoma, and they were weeks from celebrating their 50th anniversary. David was her devoted caretaker during her courageous 12 year cancer battle.

Janice loved her family fiercely and was always thinking of others. The day before she died, she was worried about clean sheets on beds and toilet paper in the bathrooms for the family coming to tell her goodbye. She operated a daycare in her home from 1980 to 1992, was secretary at Bible Christian Church from 1992 to 2000, and worked for Deerfield Schools from 2000 to 2018 until her retirement.

She was an example on how to love well and an inspiration in so many ways. There aren’t enough words to fully describe how amazing she was and how deeply she Is missed already.

Well done, good and faithful servant! (Matthew 25:21)

Janice is survived by her husband David; her children Brent and Brandy Meyers of Paola, Kansas, Jamie and Kevin Morphew of Lakin, Kansas, and Kayla and Tywon Hubbard of Overland Park, Kansas; 8 grandsons and not a single granddaughter Josh, Kale, Isaac, Bodie, Eli, Ty, Raden, and Jalen; her parents Harold and Mildred Nusser of Holton, Kansas; and her sister Kathy and Bill Dyer of Holton, Kansas. She was a supportive wife, the best mother, and an even better grandma. Janice is preceded in death by a sister Joyce Lambert.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Bible Christian Church in Garden City with Joel Dyer and Rev. Chad Ulrich officiating. Burial will follow at the Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, Kansas. The service may also be viewed on Facebook Live on the Garnand Funeral Home Facebook page. Friends may call from Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials given to David Meyers in care of the funeral home.
