Garden City- Gladys Ona Ballinger, 101, died on Friday, February 12, 2021, with her family at her side,at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita . She was born on March 30, 1919 at Garden City the daughter of Harvey & Minna (Bloedorn) Graves. She married Lee F. Ballinger on May 19, 1940 at Garden City. Lee died on February 15, 1978.

Gladys was a lifetime Garden City resident and a 1937 graduate of Garden City High School. While in school the family lived above a jewelry store where her father had Graves Photography Studio and her job was to paint black and white photos into color. She was involved in league bowling, numerous volunteer organizations, and spent many hours with her friends at the Finney County Senior Center. Gladys loved being with her family and knitting and crocheting for them.

She is survived by her Children- Judy Buchanan of Possum Kingdom, Texas, Jean Bryant of Wichita, Jerry Ballinger of Rogers, Arkansas, Jimmy Ballinger of Garden City and Johnny Ballinger of Wichita, 21 Grandchildren, 45 Great-Grandchildren and 18 Great-Great-Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Daughter- Jannet McCracken, Son-In-Law - John McCracken, Grandson - Jeff Barker, and 2 Brothers- Warren Graves and Elmer Graves.

Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at Garnand Funeral Home with Rev Jeff Starkey officiating. The service will be on Facebook Live on the Garnand Funeral Home facebook page. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday and 9:00 AM to Service Time Saturday at Garnand Funeral Home.
