Obituary for Geneva R. Williams
Geneva R. Williams, 88, was born on June 19, 1934, in Lakin, Kansas to William R. & Donna (Springer) McVey. She passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023, at her home in Lakin, Kansas.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; son Eric Williams; brothers Timothy McVey and David McVey; and a sister Nancy Doolin. She is survived by her brother Dick McVey; sister Margie Rains; two daughters Becky Williams and LeeAnn Myers; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Geneva was a longtime employee of USD #215 and the Kearny County Sheriff’s Office. She was a loving mother that outstretched to not only her own children, but to others, and she treated them as her own. Her door was always open to anyone in need, and she absolutely loved cooking for a full house. She was a gifted seamstress and was well known for her cookies, cinnamon rolls, and blarney stones. In the summers, she enjoyed being a baking judge at the county fair. Geneva loved bowling with her ladies on Wednesday mornings and was a member of the local Order of the Eastern Star Chapter for over 50 years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at the Lakin United Methodist Church in Lakin, Kansas. A private family interment will take place at a later date. The family request in lieu of flowers that memorials be given to the Shriner’s Hospital in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 91, Lakin, Kansas 67860.
