Garden City- Freda McMillan, 92, died on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at her home in Garden City. She was born on August 20, 1930 in Trego County the daughter of John Henry & Lena (Knaus) Mai. She married Ted McMillan on August 31, 1949 at Raton, New Mexico. He died on June 15, 2018.

Freda moved with her family to Finney County in 1945 where she attended Garden City High School. She and her husband farmed in Southern Finney County. She was a member of the Plymell Union Church where she was involved with the bible study group, taught Sunday School, worked in the kitchen on church events and took care of the church rose garden. She enjoyed her flowers and cooking and was well known for her coconut pies.

She is survived by her Daughter- Kathy & Dan Kraus, 3 Sons- Danny McMillan, Rod & Sharon McMillan and Randy & Shelle McMillan all of Garden City, Sister- Esther Krug of Garden City, 17 Grandchildren and 24 Great-Grandchildren with 2 on the way. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Daughter-In-Law- Nancy McMillan, Brother- Emil Mai and 2 Sisters- Ruth Burdick and Lydia Schweer.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday at Plymell Union Church with Pastor Steve Talley and Pastor Rod McMillan officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Visitation will be held Tuesday from Noon to 8:00pm at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.
