Evelyn R. Yardley, 89, died Wednesday January 5, 2022 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born July 12, 1932 in Rolla, Kansas the daughter of Lee and Viola (Patterson) Leeper.

Evelyn was born and raised in the Hugoton, Kansas area and moved to Garden City as a young woman, where she met and married Roy Yardley, Jr. Together they raised 8 children of their own but she was a “Mother” to many more. She worked various jobs from a soda jerk at Woolsworth’s, to a florist, to a cook for USD 457. She had an artistic talent that she not only put on paper but also cultivated in her garden and floral arrangements. Evelyn had an unfailing love for her children and grandchildren. She was kind, with a gentle hand and quiet strength about her. Evelyn truly had a heart of gold.

Survivors include her Children- Troy Yardley of Wichita, Rayleen Mills of Cherryvale, Valerie (Marty) Otsuka of Garden City, Darwin (Ronnie) Yardley of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and Todd Yardley of Hugoton, Brothers- Marvin Leeper and Billy Leeper, Sister- Anita Wright, along with numerous Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, and Great-Great-Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her Parents- Lee and Viola Leeper, Children- Traci Harrison, Jacque Harrison, and Curt Yardley, and Siblings- Edward Leeper, Margorie Olson, Phillis LaCoursiere, Donnie Leeper, Richard Leeper, and Shirley Busby.

Memorial Services will be held at 5:00 pm Saturday January 15, 2022 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.
