Obituary for Ellahue "Al" Orear

Ellahue “Al” Orear, 83, formerly of Little Rock, Arkansas, died Friday, October 27, 2023, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. He was born September 11, 1940, in Fulton, Mississippi, the son of Truman & Beatrice (Adams) Orear.

Al is survived by his wife Kathy Orear; three children from a previous marriage, Debbie (Jeff) Strom of Racine, Wisconsin, Lori (Larry) Gonzales of San Antonio, Texas, and Lisa Orear of Kenosha, Wisconsin; a sister Jane Johnson of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son David Orear; and a brother-in-law Bill Johnson.

Al was a pool player, known as “Alley Oop.” He played in local pool leagues in Kenosha, Wisconsin and Little Rock, Arkansas. He also played in national league tournaments as a team member and individually. A talented 8-ball player, Al played in numerous tournaments in the Midwest and was always ready to “Matchup” and make a game. Al loved Elvis Presley, John Wayne movies and loved to take his boat to the lake for a day of fishing.
