Obituary for Elizabeth "Liz" Lang-Baier

Our beautiful mother Elizabeth “Liz” Lang-Baier danced all the way to heaven on July 8, 2023 to be with Herman, Raymond, Larry, Lois, Carol, & Loretta.

She was born December 30, 1929 at the family home in Walnut, Kansas; the daughter of Richard Sr. and Vera Webb. Brothers and Sisters Richard Jr., Mary Louise, Dorothy, Jim, Bill, & Joanie. They all went before Liz and now they have been reunited.

Liz attended and graduated in 1948 from St. Theresa Catholic School of Hutchinson, Kansas.

She married Herman J. Lang on June 15, 1948. He passed April 1, 1994. Together they had seven children, Loretta Lang, Kenny (Palla) Lang, Elaine (John) Becker, Carol Wright, Larry Lang, Lois Lang, Tina Lang. Nine Grandchildren and 24 Great-Grandchildren.

Shortly after their marriage Herman and Liz bought an old grocery store and turned it into a bowling alley in Beaver, Kansas. In 1955 they moved to Garden City, Kansas where they owned multiple businesses throughout their lifetimes; K & L Tank (stood for Kenny and Larry), Vala Construction, and the Golden Locket Golf Course. It took Liz a little time naming that one as she wanted to incorporate all of her kids’ initials. LOCKET- Larry, Loretta, & Lois, Carol, Kenny, Elaine, and Tina.

She married Raymond Baier on October 18, 1997. He passed April 22, 2014.

Liz wanted to be a nurse and she was to her husbands and her children. She took care of each and every one of them. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella, St. Mary Catholic Church, and St. Dominic Catholic Church. As well as a member of the local chapter of the Extension Homemaker Unit Group for over 60 years.

Before her stroke in 2018 Liz would go dancing four to five times a week. She really missed dancing and the people.

A Rosary Service will be held at 7:30 pm Tuesday July 11, 2023 with Funeral Mass at 11:00 am Wednesday July 12, 2023 both at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Jacob Schneider officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Tuesday July 11, 2023 at Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Mary Catholic Church or St. Dominic Catholic Church both in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
