Obituary for Dr. Terry R. Hunsberger
Dr. Terry Ray Hunsberger, age 75, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by friends and family on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023. He was born June 13, 1947, in Garden City, Kansas, the son of R.W. Hunsberger and Katherine Hunsberger (Sullivan).
Terry, most commonly known as Doc, attended medical school throughout Kansas and Oklahoma graduating in 1973 from Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine. Terry’s extensive medical training extended from Chelation, Occupational Medicine, Biofeedback and Homeopathic Therapy, Family Practice Medicine, Hyperbaric Therapy, Certified Wound Specialist,and Certified FAA Medical Examiner. Along with his elaborate medical training Terry found happiness in being a part of the Freemasons as well as aviation and obtained a private pilot certificate in 1998. In addition to Terry’s own ambition he also played a role in his dad’s trucking company and firewood business. On June 21st, 2008, Terry married Dianne (Hahn) of Garden City, Kansas Their marriage was filled with laughter, traveling, and love. Garden City has always been his home and the love for his patients was a driving force that never stopped even after his retirement in 2016 by being affiliated with Grow Well Clinic in Garden City, KS.
Dr. Hunsberger is survived by his wife, Dianne Hunsberger of Garden City; daughters, Michelle Barber (Trever) Verona, MO, Raegann Martinez (Jesse) Edmond, OK, Britney Hunsberger Edmond, OK, Kaylen Hunsberger (Joey) Edmond, OK, Amanda Arevalo (Sacramento) Emporia, KS, and Stephanie Hahn (Shane) Garden City, KS; son, Ben Hahn (Anna) Garden City; grandchildren, Colton Barber, Justin Barber, David Barber, Christina Barber, Lance Martinez (Shelby), Katherine Martinez (Edgar), Grace Martinez, Krystann Martinez, Coby Hankins, Kiana Hankins, Chloe Hankins, Daymn Hankins, Isaac Arevalo, Gabriela Arevalo, Dereck Hahn (Sarah), Ashley Skelton (Justin); great grandchildren, Annabelle Barber, Copelynn Barber, Mason Martinez, Levi Skelton, Kendyl Skelton, Sadie Hahn, Brogan Hahn
Dr. Hunsberger is preceded in death by his parents, R.W. and Katherine Hunsberger; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral service will be Friday, January 13, 2023, at 10:30 at Bible Christian Church in Garden City. Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Visitation will be Thursday, January 12th, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Memorial contributions may be given to Hope Lodge, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Finney County Humane Society, or the Jeff Landgraf Memorial Scholarship at GCCC Endowment, all in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N 7th St, Garden City, KS 67846.
