Obituary for Dr. James Henry "Jim" Robinson

Garden City- Dr. James (Jim) Henry Robinson, 103, died on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City. He was born October 7, 1919 in Wayland, New York the son of Lyle J Robinson and Emily K (Hubbard) Robinson.

Jim was raised in Wayland, New York where he graduated high school and later attended Rochester School of Commerce. He enlisted in the Army Air Force in January 1942. He graduated from the University of Minnesota, and attended dental school in Kansas City at UMKC. He practiced dentistry for 34 years in Topeka, Kansas where he raised his family with wife Gwen Robinson. Jim was a member of the Kansas Dental Association, Trinity Lutheran Church, Topeka Country Club and supported many community endeavors such as Mulvane Art Center and the Cosmos youth baseball programs.

Jim was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed golf, tennis, and loved the outdoors. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family at the lake. He had a real love for animals, raising horses, cats, dogs, rabbits, ducks and still at the age of 103 fed the birds daily.
In his years of retirement, he spent time in Wayland New York, Vero Beach, Florida and finally residing in Garden City, Kansas for his last ten years. He made many friends in Garden City and loved the climate of Southwest Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, one brother and one sister. He lost his wife Gwen at the young age of 55 and his grandson Matt Anderson at the age of 27.

He is survived by his daughter Lisa Anderson (Mark) of Garden City, KS. Daughter Carrie McNutt (Dale) of Roanoke, Virginia. Three grandchildren Katie (Anderson) Brownrigg, Evan and Jenny McNutt and 4 great grandchildren; Brock and Madison Brownrigg, Conner and Cora McNutt.

A private family burial will be held later in Topeka, Kansas. In lieu of flowers family suggests memorials to Western Kansas Community Foundation or St. Dominic School Endowment in care of Garnand Funeral Home. Condolences may be posted at www.garnandfuneralhomes.com
