Dorothy Rose Hoffman, age 92, passed away peacefully December 8, 2020, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, in her home in the loving care of her family.

After graduating from Garden City High School, Dorothy worked for The Garden City Sugar Company. She married Mike G. Hoffman Jr., on November 25, 1952 at St. Mary Church. She is survived by her five children and their spouses: Rod and Barb Hoffman of Lenexa, Mark and Sue Hoffman of Wichita, Michelle and Marlin Wells of Garden City, Michael and Connie Hoffman of Garden City, and Debra and Greg Mader of Wichita, and by fourteen grandchildren Seth Hoffman, Sean Hoffman, Emily Jackson, Fr. Dorothy and her husband Mike were charter members of St. Dominic Church where she was active in The Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella. She was a longtime volunteer at the Gift Nook at St. Catherine Hospital and a weekly worshiper at the hospital’s adoration chapel. Many people asked to be included in her prayer list. For years, she served as a poll worker during local and national elections. Dorothy enjoyed craft work and cooking new and tried-and-true recipes for her family. She especially enjoyed planning activities for her grandchildren and attending their school and sporting events.

Visitation will be from 9;00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 11 at Garnand Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Saturday, December 12, at St Dominic Church with her grandson Father Drew Hoffman presiding. Rosary will begin at the church at 10:30. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Mass will be streamed live on the Garnand Funeral Home Facebook page. Memorials may be given in her name to St. Dominic Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, or St. Mary Catholic Church, all in care of the funeral home.

Mom valued hard work and good manners. She would want to give a special thank you to the staff at Garden Valley Retirement Village, St. Catherine Hospital, St. Catherine Hospice, and Sienna Medical for their heroic service during this trying year.
