Obituary for Donald W. Lamb

Donald W. Lamb, 89, died Tuesday March 1, 2022 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born December 30, 1932 at Ellinwood, Kansas the son of Arlie L. and Bonnie (Chuculate) Lamb.

Donald grew up in Ellinwood where he attended school and spent a lot of time in Sallisaw, Oklahoma on the Cherokee Reservation with his grandmother. After graduation Donald enlisted in the United States Navy. On August 3, 1964 Donald married Deloris J. “Sweetie” Lamb at Garden City, Kansas.

Don began his career in the oilfields working overseas, and the later part of it working all over Southwest Kansas where he was known as “The oldest oil pumper in the world” by his colleagues. Don was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Eagle’s Lodge. His life revolved around his family, dancing, music, sporting events, ice cream, telling jokes, and making his regular trips to U-Pump-It to get his iced tea.

He is survived by 4 Sons- Curtis (Dee) Lamb, Kip (Tracy) Lamb, Garrett (Hayley Frazier) Lamb, and Colin (Winsom) Lamb all of Garden City, 2 Daughters- Twila Briscoe of Garden City and Arlee (Vincent) Ramos of Wichita, Brother-in-Law- Terry Stopple of Garden City, 17 Grandchildren- Larry Briscoe, Jr., Donell Howard, Brianna Briscoe, Betsy Myers, Dustin Lamb, Josh Lamb, Ben Lamb, Caleb Lamb, Kelley Lamb, Zach Lamb, Kelsie Ramos, Ashlee Ramos-Porter, Kaden Ramos, Brayley Frazier, Lawson Lamb, Kyler Lamb & Isaac Lamb, 32 Great-Grandchildren- Kaiden Briscoe, Daesha Rosenhamer, Corbyn Howard, Darby Howard, Dacey Howard, Isaiah Camacho, Aaron Acosta, Briseis Acosta, Nora Lamb, Nova Lamb, Jace Novack, Jack Myers, Tierce Myers, Taytum Myers, McKenzie Lamb, Delaney Lamb, Callahan Lamb, Sloan Lamb, Kylie Lamb, Kamryn Lamb, Karter Lamb, Alex Chavez, Natasha Chavez, Wrenley Lamb, Keagan Lamb, Kalan Lamb, Derique Medina, X-Zier Wright, Tyara Wright, Alex Wright, Brooklyn Wright & Mason Wright and 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren- Wade Rosenhamer, Dawn Rosenhamer & Maela Rosenhamer.

Don is preceded in death by his Wife- Sweetie, Parents- Arlie and Bonnie, Brother- Arlie Lamb, Jr., and Sister- Norma Petz.

Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 pm Friday March 11, 2022 and Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 pm (Noon) Saturday, March 12, 2022 both at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Jacob Schneider as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Valley view Cemetery with Military Honors by United States Navy Honor Guard and the District #8 Honor Guard.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Mary’s School in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
