It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Widows, who departed from this world on September 30, 2023. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever be etched in our hearts.
Born on September 12, 1964 to Robert and Ramona (Allen) Widows, he brought joy and light into the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Whether it was lending a helping hand to a neighbor in need, or simply offering a warm smile and comforting words, David had a profound impact on everyone he met.
David graduated in 1983 from Garden City High School. He earned his Diesel Mechanics Degree from Liberal Vo-Tech. After Vo-Tech, he worked at Diesel Specialty. Later on, he worked at IBP in maintenance and then a diesel mechanic for Peterbilt and Eves Trucking. David graduated from KLETC in Hutchinson in 2002 and worked for Finney County Sheriff Department for 22 years. He worked as a Road Deputy, promoted to Corporal, and then as a Warrant Deputy.
David married Tammy Smith on December 28, 2006 in Holcomb, Ks. In his free time, David enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and motorcycles. He relished in spending time with his granddaughters and his dog.
He is survived by his wife-Tammy Widows, Daughter- Keali and husband Jason Shelton, Son-Damon Carr, Father-Robert Widows, Sister-Becky and husband Trevor Brandt, and granddaughters- Kirynn and Evelynn Shelton.
A memorial service to celebrate David’s life will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, beginning at 2:00, at Garden Valley Church Family Center, 312 East Campbell, with Pastor Steve Ensz officiating. Sheriff Department Honors will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
