Obituary for Daniel LeRoy "Danny" Novack
Daniel “Danny” LeRoy Novack, 75, died Monday, March 13, 2023, at the Kearny County Hospital in Lakin, Kansas. He was born February 9, 1948, in Dodge City, Kansas, the son of John M. & Kathleen A. (Danler) Novack.
Danny grew up in Deerfield, Kansas, where he attended school and graduated from Deerfield High School in 1966. He then attended Garden City Community College where he excelled as a pole vaulter. On August 30, 1969, he married Barbara Jolene Garnand in Garden City, Kansas. They have lived in the Deerfield, Holcomb and Garden City area since. For 55 years, Danny worked as a self-employed Professional wallpaper and painting contractor. He was a member of the Eagle’s Lodge and the Knights of Columbus Lodge. Danny was very active throughout his life in various hobbies and interests. He loved watching his grandchildren in all of their activities. He also enjoyed antique shopping, fishing, playing cards especially Pitch, horseshoes, planting garden flowers and yard work, camping, going on motorcycle trips, golfing, and taking care of his farm animals. Danny and his wife also loved dancing and leading wedding marches.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Jolene Novack of the home; 14 children Randy (Rayna) Novack of Garden City, KS, Stephanie (Tuan) Herrell of Holcomb, KS, Jamie (Nancy) Novack of Holcomb, KS, LaDonna (Ben) Knoll of Garden City, KS, Travis (Rose) Novack of Florence, CO, Stephen Novack of Garden City, KS, Kendra (Brent) Schilling of Amarillo, TX, Nathan (Emie) Novack of Hesston, KS, Kayleen Novack of Shawnee, KS, Jacalyn (Brandon) Jobe of Shawnee, KS, Brett (Katie) Novack of Garden City, KS, Brandon (Katie) Novack of Amarillo, TX, Mekayla (Josh) Novack of Garden City, KS, & Alisha (Austin) Novack of Holcomb, KS; 10 siblings Gary (Mable) Novack of Overland Park, KS, Belinda (Tom) Phillips of Salina, KS, Patsy Parker of Liberal, KS, David “Lips” (Kim) Novack of Holcomb, KS, Tim “Porky” (Deana) Novack of Lakin, KS, Debbie (Don) Pollom of Topeka, KS, Cindy (Mike) Rivers of Garden City, KS, Kevin “Smurf” (Bea) Novack of Deerfield, KS, Colleen Dewey of Topeka, KS, and Kim (Travis) Leonard of Holcomb, KS; 39 Grandchildren with 2 more on the way; and 9 Great-Grandchildren. Danny is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers John, Joseph, & James; and 2 Granddaughters Adryon Knoll and Shelby Novack.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Deerfield High School Gymnasium with Raul Silva officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
