Obituary for Charles B. Sinclair
Garden City- Charles B. Sinclair, 91, died on Tuesday, February 16, 2022 at St Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born on March 12, 1930 at Jetmore the son of Albert Thomas & Nellie Florence (Love) Sinclair. He married Billie Jacks on April 29, 1955 at Dodge City. She died on September 6, 1994. He married Kay Pflieder and later married Bonnie Reed in Las Vegas and she died on September 18, 2020.
Charles graduated from Jetmore High School. He joined the United States Navy and was stationed on the USS Walker based in Honolulu while serving in the Korean Conflict. After his discharge he earned his Elementary Teaching Degree from Emporia State Teachers College. He moved to Garden City in 1959 to teach at Lincoln Elementary while also working as a butcher at Ehresman Packing Company. He then became the Principal at Jennie Barker School. In 1963 he became a General Agent with Transamerica Life Insurance Company which he did up until his death. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, John J. Haskell VFW Post # 2279 and 32nd Degree and all office’s of the Masonic Lodge. He was a lifelong horseman and his passion of teaching youth how to ride and take care of animals.
He is survived by 2 Sons- C. Brent Sinclair of Garden City and Kent Sinclair of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Daughter- Layne Schiffelbein of Garden City, Sister- Nancey Werner of Edmond, Oklahoma, 4 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild. He was preceded in death by his Parents, 2 Wives, 2 Brothers- Wayne Sinclair and Tracey Sinclair and Sister- Colleen “Sis” Reed.
Memorial Service will be at 2:00 PM Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Garden City with Rev Joel Plisek officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
