Obituary for Caroline Klaus

Caroline Suzanne Klaus, 81, died Wednesday November 9, 2022 at her home in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on July 13, 1941 in Halfifax, Nova Scotia, Canada the daughter of Stanley Young and Dorothy Smith.

Caroline spent her early years of life in Halfifax, Nova Scotia. At the age of 9 her family moved to Glendale, California. In 1959 she graduated High School in California then moved to Garden City in 1977 where she was co-owner of The Klaus Haus restaurant from 1982-1991. Her memberships included the VFW Auxiliary and The Girl Scouts. Caroline loved to travel and was an avid collector of many things.

Survivors include her children Julie & Phil Castaneda, Steve & Robyn Pamplin, Mark A. Pamplin, Jennifer & Ron Kreutzer, Joseph & Caitlin Klaus, Lisa Ordonez, Cecile & Morris Purkey and Katherine Anderson, Step-children Peter Klaus, Mary Benton, Roger Klaus, Brenda Hill and Jo Queta Lee, her brother James S. Young. 28 Grandchildren & 22 Great-Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Albert Klaus and her parents.

A Celebration of life will be from 2-5 P.M. Sunday November 20, 2022 at Episcopal Church 712 N. Main St. in Garden City. The family suggest memorial be made to Joshua B. Smith Foundation in care of Garnand Funeral Home. Condolences may be posted at Garnandfuneralhomes.com
