Obituary for Carolina Hinojos Baca Ortega
Carolina Hinojos Baca Ortega, 88, died on Monday July 3rd, 2023, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born on October 10, 1935, in Chihuahua, Chihuahua Mexico, the daughter of Manuel Hinojos and Elena Baca. Carlolina married Alfanso Fajardo Valdez on May 4th, 1951, in Juarez Mexico, who later passed away in 1961.
In May 20th of 1967 she married Jesus Garcia Ortega in Juarez Mexico. Together their family consists of three sons Fernando Fajardo, Oscar and Ginger Ortega, Octavio and Shannon Ortega. Carolina had 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Together Carolina and her family moved to Aurora, Illinois in 1969. She worked at Georgia Pacific for 9 years alongside her husband Jesus. They moved to Garden City in 1977 where she worked as a housekeeper and in the fields during the summers alongside her sons. Later on she worked as a custodian at First United Methodist Church. She also took care of and spent many days with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, puzzles and cooking for her family and friends. She also loved dancing, watching the birds in her bird feeders and garage sale shopping. Although what she loved to do most was spending time with her beloved family and cherished grandkids and great grandkids.
Carolina is preceded in death by her parents Manuel Hinojos and Elena Baca, Sisters: Maria Elena, Margarita, Nieves, Guadalupe, Brothers: Raphael, Jesus Alfredo. Also one son Arturo Fajardo, and one daughter Carolina Fajardo.
A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023, also at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Jacob Schneider as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
