Obituary for Ashley Diane Alexander

Ashley Diane Alexander,33, left this earth and went to her Heavenly home on October 25th, 2020.

She was born at Ft. Hood, TX on January 13th, 1987 to Johnathan Fairbanks and Traci Dechant. As a small child, she moved back to Garden City, KS. She later moved to Sublette, KS, where she graduated from High School in 2005. While in High School, she was very active in choir and media, and after graduation received a journalism scholarship to Garden City Community College. She later graduated with an Associates Degree, and was very involved in theatre and chorus.

She had many hobbies, some of which included crafting, gardening, local history, and anything related to Lee Richardson Zoo. She was very involved with the Finney County Historical Museum, as well as a staunch supporter of all things “Garden City”. She loved music, movies, was always quick with a joke and a smile, and had a very quick wit. She was a very loyal friend, and she loved children of all ages. She possessed an infectious zest for life that everyone loved.

She is survived by her parents, Traci and Darrin Dechant of Garden City, and John and Arlene Fairbanks of Hutchinson, KS; brother Johnathan (Shruti) Fairbanks of New York, NY; Nathan Fairbanks, Hutchinson KS; sister Jessica Fairbanks, Hutchinson, KS.; and nephew Johnathan Fairbanks of New York, NY. Grandparents are Joyce Hett and Susone Croslin of Garden City, Robert Fairbanks of Surprise, AZ; Carol Dechant of Garden City, the late Judith Fairbanks, Washington, NC; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her beloved baby boy, Cooper Lee Alexander.

Funeral will be Friday, October 30th at 10:00 am at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City. Graveside service to follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. There will be no visitation.

Memorials can be given to Lee Richardson Zoo, and Finney County Historical Society in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
