Obituary for Alejandro Varela
Alejandro Varela, 19, passed away Wednesday May 12, 2021 in Garden City, Kansas. He was born August 14, 2001 in Garden City, Kansas, the son of Gerardo C. and Rosa Maria (Sanchez) Varela.
Alejandro attended and graduated from Garden City schools. He was a talented artist, composing his own music and playing the trumpet. He was a free spirit and enjoyed traveling to concerts in Florida, Georgia and Denver and taking vacations on the sunny beaches of Mexico. He loved deeply and loyally. His family will remember him as a protective and loving son, adoring baby brother, genuine friend, passionate musician, and generous soul.
Survivors include his Mother- Rosa Sanchez & Alvaro Castaneda; Siblings-Gerardo Varela & Francisco Varela; Beloved Cousin-Tony Varela & additional numerous Cousins, Aunts & Uncles & Friends. He was preceded in death by his Father-Gerardo C. Varela.
Visitation will start 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Tuesday May 18, 2021 at Garnand Funeral Home with Rosary following at 7:30 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday May 19, 2021 with Father Jacob Schneider officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Alejandro Varela Memorial Fund to benefit the band program at Horace Good Middle School.
