Obituary for Lon Ray Borell

Utica- Lon Ray Borell, 57, died on Friday, March 30, 2018 at his home in Utica. He was born on June 28, 1960 at Garden City the son of Loren E. & Ruth Marie (Frimmel) Borell. He married Linda Ann Muffitt Schaben on June 6, 1980. He later married Vicky Lynn Adams Yates on November 29, 1986 in Lane County.

Lon Ray grew up in Lane County and attended Shields Grade School and graduated from Healy High School in 1978. He worked for Farmers Co-Op in Dighton for 5 years before returning to the family farm. While farming he also worked the wet corn grinding for DKS Dozing and Wick Grain. While continuing to farm he and his wife opened Vic’s Short Branch Saloon in Utica in 1999 and he has been running it since 2008. He was a member of Christ The King Lutheran Church in Dighton. He was preceded in death by his Father.

Survivors include his Wife- Vicky Lynn Borell of the Home, Daughter- Dennille Adessa Borell (Steven Shull) of Utica, 2 Step-Sons- Tyce Yates (Sonja) of Winfield & Lancer Yates (Misty) of Haven, Mother- Ruth Marie Borell of Dorrance, Brother- Von Lee Borell (Denise) of Dighton, Sister- Cindy Borell of Dodge City, Grandson- Aiden Shull, 5 Step-Grandchildren- Jesse Ellsworth, Seaira Slaton, Bryce Slaton, Kylea Slaton & Andrew Clayton Yates & 2 Step Great-Grandchildren

Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM Friday at the First Christian Church in Dighton with Rev Aerii Smith officiating. Burial will be at Dighton Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call from Noon to 8:00 PM Thursday with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and 9:00 AM To 10:30 AM Friday at Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton. Memorials are suggested to the Lon Ray Borell Memorial Fund in care of Boomhower Funeral Home. Condolences may be posted at www.garnandfuneralhomes.com.
