Obituary for Linda Kay Shaffer

Dighton- Linda Kay Shaffer, 63, died on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. She was born on February 4, 1954 at Great Bend the daughter of Alan & Annabelle (Winger) Spencer. She married Richard Hemel in March of 1973 at Scott City. She later married Richard Shaffer on February 14, 1991 at Dighton.

Linda graduated from Scott City High School in 1972. She worked in Dighton at the Kwik Shop and Dighton Bowl & Diner and was a homemaker for her family. She enjoyed reading, bowling, Nascar, especially Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Clint Boyer, Arts & Craft Shows, cross stitching, her Sister’s weekends with the Shaffer In Laws, attending the Twins Conventions with her sister and was an avid KU fan.

She is survived by her Husband Richard Shaffer of the Home, Daughter- Heather Hemel of Salina, Sons- Mark Hemel & Cheri Gillett of Scott City, David Shaffer & Shelley Koski of Moose Lake, Minnesota, Mike Shaffer of Kasilos, Alaska, Christian Shaffer & Anthony Shaffer of the Home, Twin Sister- Brenda Love of Hoisington, Sisters- Pennie Spencer of Great Bend & Cathy Savolt of Andale, 8 Grandchildren- Wesley Hemel, Christopher Hemel, Blake Gillett, Emma Kay Hemel, Justin Shaffer, Tayler Shaffer, Alyssa Shaffer & Jordan Shaffer and Uncles and Aunts including Marshall Spencer of Colwich, Rob & Patte Spencer of Andale & Great Uncle & Aunt Eldo & Bretha Miller of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her Parents and Brother- Wes Spencer.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Friday at the United Methodist Church in Dighton with Rev Berniece Ludlum officiating. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton. Memorials are suggested to United Methodist Church in care of Boomhower Funeral Home.
