Obituary for Robert A. Paris

Dighton- Robert A. Paris, 88, died on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Lane County Hospital in Dighton. He was born on July 30, 1929 at Dighton the Son of Glen Allan & Mary Viola (Paterson) Paris. He married Delores L. Landon on July 10, 1955 at Deerfield.

Robert graduated from Dighton High School in 1947 and received his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from Kansas State University in 1952. He served in the United States Air Force, graduating from the Air Force Officer Candidate School at Lackland Air Force Base. He was a Staff Sergeant at the time of his discharge from active duty and then spent 27 years in the Air Force Reserves and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a life long farmer on the family farm in Lane County.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Dighton where he sang in the choir for many years. He served on the local Soil Conservation Board for 25 years and was the State President of Kansas Association of Soil Districts in 1976-1977. He was President of the Kansas Wheat Growers Association in 1988-1989. He served on the Kansas Agriculture Rural Leadership board from 1995-2000. He was also a member of Barney Masonic Lodge 279 of Dighton.

He is survived by his Wife- Delores Paris of the Home, 1 Son- Allan J. Paris of Colorado Springs, Colorado, 2 Daughters- Loretta M. Green of Rose Hill & Lisa Ann Weeks of Waynesboro, Virginia, 1 Brother- George Paris of Topeka, 9 Grandchildren & 3 Great-Grandchildren. He was Preceded in death by his Parents & 2 Sisters- Florence Marie Paris and Clara Belle Splitter.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday at the United Methodist Church with Rev Berniece Ludlum officiating. Burial will follow at Dighton Memorial Cemetery with military honors conducted. Calling hours are from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Friday at Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton. Memorials are suggested to United Methodist Church or Lane County Library in care of Boomhower Funeral Home.
