Obituary for Dorothy M. Dotts

Dorothy M. Dotts, 92, died Saturday, June 24, 2017 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born August 9, 1924 in Louisburg, Kansas the daughter of Fred & Teresa (McGuirk) Wood.
Dorothy grew up in Louisburg where she attended school and graduated from high school. Dorothy lived in various places throughout Kansas before moving to Garden City in the early 1950’s. She has lived in Garden City since. In October 1941, Dorothy married W.C. “Peck” Daggett. Dorothy later married Leonard P. Dotts on September 30, 1972 in Garden City. Dorothy worked for almost 30 years as the lunch counter manager for Woolworth’s. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and she enjoyed traveling, crocheting, gardening, yard work, the outdoors, and at age 70 she started taking piano lessons.
Survivors include a daughter Karen Karle of Garden City; Step-son John Dotts of Wichita, Kansas; a Step-daughter Carrie Reha of Garden City; and numerous Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Dorothy is preceded in death by her first husband W.C. “Peck” Daggett; her second husband Leonard P. Dotts; her parents; 3 brothers Henry Wood, Leo Wood, and Max Wood; and a sister Maxine Kerr.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Rev. Scott Schurle officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later time at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to the Heartland Cancer Center in care of the funeral home.
