William Trent Seger, age 23, returned to our Heavenly Father, welcomed with open arms by numerous loved ones, on Monday, March 20, 2017, in Ogden, Utah. William Trent was known by many names, depending on how you knew him. Most called him Trent or William/Will, yet he responded to Uncle T, Papa Bear, Tretter-bug, Tretter, and Tur-run Tur-run. Ironically, ‘Shorty’ also became a popular nickname for Trent. A man standing 6’4 off the ground is hardly ‘short’. Even Trent always got a good laugh out of that name.
Trent entered this world no short of a miracle on June 10, 1993. He was blue from a shortage of oxygen and nutrients, and only weighed 5 pounds. It did not take long to change that around! Trent was never considered any synonym of ‘small’ from then on. Trent's life here on earth was definitely meant to be a wild and crazy ride. He liked to "help" from a young age. Once when his dad had just finished a new paint job on a restored 1954 Ford, Trent 'helped' by taking a flat head screwdriver to the fender. Trent also loved animals. He always had a cat or a dog and when he was much littler, he loved to share his bath with his Easter ducklings. Once he accidentally ran over a den of rabbits with the lawnmower and he cried for days. His first words were all dinosaur names, hence Trent was also known as "Trent-osaurus Rex". If he wasn't talking about dinosaurs, Trent was talking about food. True to Kansas taste buds, Trent loved meat! He especially loved beef and noodles but never complained about any kind of food. He enjoyed apple bendovers and often asked for apricots from Southern Utah! Trent could also be found at a young age wielding some kind of sword that he had made out of a piece of metal he stole from his mom’s garden décor or a tool from his dad’s shop. He was a smart and inventive little boy that grew into a great young man.
Trent never had shoes on. He came into this life barefoot and he believed life was meant to just stay barefoot. This concept made complete sense to Trent!
Trent had many loves in life: Mountain Dew, fishing, shooting guns, bows, and crossbows, swords and spears, dragons and Medieval times, hunting, and tractors. He enjoyed reading and writing stories and also his PlayStation. Trent also loved to tell jokes and tease. He had a laugh like none other, a contagious chuckle that stuck with you and kept you laughing even after the joke had ended. Trent graduated from Ulysses High School in 2012 and went on to become a certified welder. He thoroughly loved being creative with metal and proved to be a skilled welder.
More than anything, Trent loved his family. He had an extra special place in his heart for his Mama, his nieces and nephews, and for his friends, who all qualified as 'family'. He loved being home, sleeping, and spending time with his loved ones. Consistently, but even more so recently, Trent never said a goodbye without adding, “I love you.” Anybody that heard that phrase knew he meant it with all his heart.
Trent was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved Book of Mormon stories. He was a friend to everyone he met, always willing to offer the famous "Trent Hug." Trent’s life ambition was to make a full suite of armor and to live solely off the land raising buffalo in Alaska.
Trent is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bob and E. Ruth Seger; aunts and uncles, Mark Seger, Sandy Seger, Earl Seger, and Charla Seger. He is survived by his parents, Merl Lee and Leasa Seger; grandparents, William and Barbara Neff; siblings, Landy (Jason) Williams, Michelle (Tanner) Crowther, Brandon (Aubrey) Seger; nieces and nephews, Kelsi, Taya, Kenzi, Jhett, Paige, Tate and Case; aunts and uncles, Karen (Fred) Clyde, Bobbie Seger, Cheryl (Ron) Hale, Robert Seger, Kathy (Mel) Mortensen, Verl (Lori) Seger, Wayne (Micalla) Neff, Donnie (Becky) Neff, Travis (Sanna) Neff, Jennifer Neff, Harrison Neff, Clint (Jenny) Neff, Shawnee (Jared) Schneider; and many cousins.

Funeral service will be Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel in Ulysses. Interment will follow at Ulysses Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, March 24, 2017, from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
