Obituary for Phyllis J. Reever

Phyllis J. Reever, age 75, of Ulysses, Kansas died Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born December 15, 1940 in Springfield, Colorado, the daughter of Howard and Lola (Robins) Chenoweth.

Phyllis grew up in Springfield, Colorado and graduated from Springfield High School in 1958. She was a bus driver for Vilas School for a number of years. After moving to Ulysses in 1983, she worked as a dispatcher for Grant County Sheriff Department until she retired in 1998. Phyllis loved working in her flower garden and yard, was a bird watcher, and enjoyed doing needle point and crocheting. Her dog was her constant companion and meant everything to her.

She is survived by two sons, Larry Painter of Walsh, Colorado and Randy Painter and wife Diane of Ulysses; daughter, Brenda Babcock and husband Lance of Ulysses; brother, Bob Chenoweth and wife Barbara of Springfield, Colorado; sister, Terrie Hiner and husband Chester of Ulysses; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Eugene Chenoweth and Don Chenoweth.

Memorial service will be Monday, October 3, 2016 at 2:00 PM (MST) at the Menick Building in Springfield, Colorado with Ervin Maltbie officiating. Private family burial will be at the Springfield Cemetery in Springfield, Colorado. Memorial contributions may be given to the Ulysses Animal Shelter in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
