Obituary for Sheryl E. Barnes

Sheryl E. Barnes, age 72, of Ulysses, Kansas died Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born February 24, 1944, in Stafford, Kansas, the daughter of Evelyn “Polly” Rundell.

Sheryl moved to Ulysses as a young girl. She married Homer W. Barnes on August 1, 1964 in Garden City. Sheryl was a clerk at Gibson’s Discount Center for 20 years. She enjoyed travelling with her husband and caring for their pets.

She is survived by her husband, Homer of the home; daughters, Angela Bittner and husband Gerald of Pryor, Oklahoma and Michelle Haney and husband Mike of Ulysses, Kansas; four grandchildren, Chris Barnes, Tyler Haney, Luke Haney and Trenton Bittner.

Sheryl is preceded in death by her mother.

Funeral service will be Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses with Reverend Kelly Gindlesberger and Pastor Don Mace officiating. Interment will follow at Ulysses Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
