Obituary for Marty L. Petersen

Marty L. Petersen, 78 of Garden City died Friday, November 13, 2015 at Wesley Woodlawn Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
A devoted wife, proud mother and Nana, Martha Lenore Petersen was born on August 24, 1937 in Dighton, Kansas. The daughter of Leland and Blanche (Gatten) Crosson, she grew up in Dighton.
On July 9, 1960, she married Frank Petersen in Clayton, New Mexico.
She was a homemaker and parts courier for American Implement, a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and Altar Society. She enjoyed sitting with Frank on their north porch waving to passersby, spending time with her family, and attending her grandchildren’s activities.
Holding her in loving memory are her husband, Frank, of their home; two daughters, Nanci and husband Chad Koster of Garden City, Ann and husband Brian Haberly of Wichita; three sons, Brent and wife Celeste of Garden City, Joe and wife Keri of Plainville, and Drew and wife Betsy of Garden City; thirteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bobby Crosson and Don Crosson; two sisters, Marletta Bush and Bera Ward; and two grandchildren Luke Haberly and Mia Haberly.
A vigil service and rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 19 also at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Fr. Reginald A. Urban as presider. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family requests memorials given to the Marty Petersen Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
