Born and raised in Hays, Mary graduated from Girls Catholic High School and then Fort Hays State College. Mary and her husband moved to Healy where he farmed. Mary went to work for Sharp Brother’s Seed Company in January of 1965 as their secretary and bookkeeper. She retired in March 2001. She loved music, shopping and flower gardening. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Curtis Penka.
