Obituary for Kaylee Jean Norton

Kaylee Jean Norton, age 46, of Rolla, Kansas died Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton, Kansas. She was born August 5, 1968 in Emporia, Kansas the daughter of Edward Eugene and Phyllis (Young) Heilman.

Kaylee was an active 4-H member as a child. She graduated from Hugoton High School where she was a cheerleader, on the dance team, and played volleyball. She continued her education at Panhandle State University, also serving as a cheerleader. She received her Master’s Degree from Fort Hays State University. Kaylee married Phillip Norton on June 30, 1990 in Hugoton. She had taught school in Hugoton and for the last nine years was a teacher in Rolla. Kaylee collected pigs and loved to garden.

Survivors include her husband, Phillip; son, William Garry Norton; and daughters, Allyson Kae Norton and Melanie Jean Norton all of the home; father, Gene Heilman of Hugoton, Kansas; sisters, Noelene Craft of Gage Oklahoma, Ginger Lee Floyd of Dodge City, Kansas, Lynnette Hageman and husband Dennis of Hugoton, Kansas; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Garry and Donna Norton of Hugoton, Kansas; sisters-in-law, Kim Clark and husband Darren of Rolla, Kansas and Christy Littlefield and husband Mick of Hugoton, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kaylee is preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis in 2010; infant brother, Carl Eugene Heilman in 1961; and nephew, Brandon Reynolds.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Rolla High School Gymnasium in Rolla, Kansas with Pastor Roy Bogan officiating. Interment will follow at Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton. Friends may call from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton. Memorial contributions may be given to the Norton Children’s Education Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 423 S. Main, Hugoton, KS 67951.
