Obituary for Misha Akagi

Misha Mugishima Akagi, age 93, departed in life, on Thursday, February 19, 2015 in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born into a very large family to Chogoro and Toyo (Kido) Mugishima, on March 3, 1921, in Rocky Ford, Colorado. She was the third child of thirteen; two sisters and ten brothers.

Misha lived a good life. She was very artistic. She worked in a flower shop and had a good eye for design. She worked in the Ulysses School District for 21 years. Her greatest passion was watching sports, but she especially lived for football season. She was a voracious reader.

She is survived by her son, Wayne Akagi of Ulysses, Kansas; daughter, Ann Akagi of Chandler, Arizona; sister, Mary Furutani of Sanford, Florida; brother, Byron Mugishima of Santa Rosa, California; grandson, Cam Akagi of Shawnee, Kansas; three great-grandchildren, Ally, Emi, and Maddie Akagi of Shawnee, Kansas; many nieces, nephews, dear family and friends.

Misha is preceded in death by her parents; nine brothers, and one sister.

It was her request that there be no memorial service for her. She was loved by her family and many friends and we know you would like to pay your respects to her. We ask that when you have a free moment in your day, that you say a prayer for her to give her your farewells. Memorial contributions may be given to The Legacy at Park View or Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
