Obituary for Brad A. Elliott

Brad A. Elliott, 52 of Lakin died Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. He was born February 26, 1962 in Lakin, Kansas the son of Warren & Kay (Cole) Elliott.
Brad grew up in Lakin and attended Lakin schools. He graduated from Lakin High School in 1980. He then earned his Associates degree from Dodge City Community College in 1983 and his Bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State University in 1986. Brad returned to Lakin where he has lived since. Brad worked as Deputy City Clerk for the City of Lakin. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church of Lakin and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus. A guitar and bass player, Brad played with Jack Pepper and was a member of the bands Purple Express, Sierra/Fulton Street Band, Clay Davenport and the ABC Band, the Road Runners, and the Fiddlers and Pickers. Brad also taught people how to play the acoustic guitar. He enjoyed helping with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, camping, collecting trains and pocket watches, school activities including playing in pep band, and spending time with family, friends and kids.
On August 29, 1987, he married Madeline Raybourn in Haysville, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include his parents Warren and Kay Elliott of Lakin. Brad is preceded in death by a daughter Catherine Marie Elliott; a son Bryan Lee Elliott; and two brothers Bob Elliott and Bill Elliott.
A vigil service and rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lakin. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 24 also at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lakin with Fr. Mike Helms as Celebrant. Burial will follow at the Lakin Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin. The family requests memorials given to the Catherine and Bryan Elliott Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Lakin.
