Obituary for Alice E. Towns
Alice E. Towns, 92 died Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born February 6, 1922 in Garden City the daughter of Junius Edward “June” and Inez Ann (Hibbard) Baldwin.
Alice lived most of her life in Garden City. She attended Garden City schools. On November 27, 1939 she married Harry W. Towns in Lawton, Oklahoma. A homemaker, Alice enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing, raising chickens, and gardening. She moved Lamar, Colorado in 1994 and returned to Garden City in the early part of 2014.
Survivors include three children Delmer E. & wife Donna Towns of Garden City; Dale & wife Tommie Towns of Garden City; and Christi & wife Larry Barnett of Norman, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Alice is preceded in death by her husband Harry who died on July 27, 1993. She is also preceded in death by a companion Jerry jones; a son Lloyd W. Towns; a daughter Opal Woodrum; a grandson Allen E. Towns; and several brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Rev. Bob Bates officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The family requests memorials given to St. Catherine Hospice in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
